The Department of Facilities and Operations, Office of Safety and Security Services, is providing an update on the weapons abatement pilot program.

Background:
|
The School Board approved the implementation of a weapons abatement pilot program in March 2023
The pilot program began in all secondary locations in May 2023
An update was provided to the School Board on the weapons abatement pilot program on February 22, 2024
A stakeholder survey on the weapons abatement pilot program was opened on April 5, 2024 and closed on April 28, 2024
Final recommendation on the future of the weapons abatement pilot program is being presented to the School Board on May 23, 2024

The Superintendent recommends that the School Board review the presentation, survey results and final recommendation from staff on the weapons abatement pilot program.
