Agenda Item Summary: At the February 27, 2023 Joint City Council/School Board work session, the School Law Enforcement Partnership (SLEP) Advisory Group recommendations were reviewed and discussed. As part of the discussion, a recommendation was made to form a Joint City Council/School Board SLEP Subcommittee to continue to build upon the work of the SLEP Advisory Group. The proposed membership of the Joint City Council/School Board SLEP Subcommittee is as follows: • Two members of the City Council, appointed by the Mayor • Two members of the School Board, appointed by the Chair • One staff member from both the City and Schools to support the subcommittee Membership appointments for the School Board would occur at either the June 15, 2023 or June 22, 2023 School Board meeting.
Background: The concept and recommendation for the Joint City Council/School Board SLEP Subcommittee was discussed at the February 27, 2023 Joint City Council/School Board work session.
Recommendation: The Interim Superintendent recommends that the School Board review and approve the co-creation of the Joint City Council/School Board SLEP Subcommittee.
