Agenda Item Summary: The City of Alexandria has asked that ACPS treat Presidential Primary days in the same manner as Election Day, with no school for students. To accommodate this request staff are proposing two changes. ● Move the planned March 11, 2024 teacher work day to March 5, 2024 ● Add a line to proposed Regulation IC_ID-R - School Year Calendar Regulations to make Presidential Primary Election Day be a Professional Learning/Teacher Work Day
Background: Presidential Primary Elections will be held on March 11, 2024 and March 7, 2028.
Recommendation: The Superintendent recommends the School Board approve the change to the 2023-24 calendar and adopt the revised version of IC_ID-R - School Year Calendar Regulations as part of the June 15, 2023 consent calendar.
