Agenda Item Summary: This presentation provides an update on COVID-19 mitigating strategies. This presentation includes current level of community transmission, review of Senate Bill 7309, and updated prevention measures. Mask wearing is highly recommended during periods of high or substantial transmission in all ACPS buildings and vehicles. Beginning March 1st, parents may opt their students out of mask wearing, per SB 739.
Background: The City of Alexandria remains at a high level of community transmission. As ACPS is committed to five-days a week of in-person learning, health and safety measures continue to be implemented to ensure the health and safety of all staff and students.
Recommendation: The Superintendent recommends that the School Board review the updates to the COVID-19 mitigating strategies.
