Goal 1: Systemic Alignment ACPS will build a culture of continuous improvement and design equitable systems for school and instructional improvement. Goal 2: Instructional Excellence ACPS will ensure that all students have access to and engagement with high-quality instruction. Goal 3: Student Accessibility and Support ACPS will ensure students have equitable access to and engagement with programs and supports that reduce barriers to learning.

The attached presentation presents key division-level data from SY 21-22 and the ACPS Areas of Focus for the 2022-2023 school year. This information was previously presented and discussed with the Board at the August 25 Work Session. Based on feedback from the Board, KPI areas for continuous improvement have been added for the student groups showing the greatest disproportionality within suspension and chronic absenteeism. The Areas of Focus represent multi-year efforts in critical areas identified through data and aligned with the ACPS Equity for All strategic plan and the FY 23 Board Budget Priorities. The Areas of Focus allow for clear organizational alignment and prioritization of work across the entire system.

Background:
|
The ACPS Areas of Focus highlight specific areas for intentional prioritization and aligned efforts during the course of the current school year. As in previous years, the 2022-23 Areas of Focus were arrived upon through the utilization of data-informed decision making within this specific process as well as within other key governance structure processes such as the implementation of the strategic plan and FY 2023 budget prioritization. The ACPS Equity for All 2025 strategic plan serves as the overall roadmap for the Areas of Focus by setting the organizational vision, mission, core values, goals, and strategies. Likewise, the Board Budget Priorities set last fall and last year’s Areas of Focus inform the current year. Along with alignment to the overall guiding documents of the strategic plan and budget priorities, the Areas of Focus are key priorities set to guide reconnection, support, and recovery from the continuing impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Superintendent recommends that the School Board approve the 2022-23 Areas of Focus.
