Agenda Item Summary:
ACPS has a standing MOU with APD that requires review and approval every two years. Attached is the signed 2020-2022 MOU which will be posted on ACPS and APD websites for public view.
Background:
Virginia code 22.1-280.2:3 requires the school board in each school division in which the local law-enforcement agency employs school resource officers to enter into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with such local law-enforcement agency that sets forth the powers and duties of such school resource officers. For the 2020-2022 review process, ACPS and APD formed a joint-committee to review the past and future MOU. This review process included a public hearing, community feedback survey and board workshop.
Recommendation:
The Superintendent recommends that the School Board review the approved MOU.
