The Principal Leads at Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) worked with Central Office staff and school principals to select dates for the 2023–2024 back-to-school nights. The schedule provided in this brief reflects alternating dates for elementary and middle schools on opposite ends of the city to (1) minimize conflicts for parents/guardians attending at both the elementary and secondary levels, and (2) streamline the provision of interpretation services. |

Background:

Each year, back-to-school night events are scheduled within the first month of school. On these nights, parents/guardians are invited to come meet the teachers and staff at each school, learn about their student(s)’ classes, and engage in discussions about curriculum. Parent/Guardian outreach is done at both the division and school levels, and interpretation services are provided. In addition, ACPS carefully reviews observed holidays to avoid any conflict. |
