Agenda Item Summary:
The design for the Douglas MacArthur new build has kicked off per the timeline presented to the School Board in the spring. ACPS has brought DLR Group on-board as the project architect and their work has commenced. DLR Group has a vast amount of experience designing twenty-first century K-12 schools, including in DC Public Schools. The architect team and ACPS staff worked collaboratively to identify the key stakeholders and the appropriate approach for engagement of different groups. A community meeting to introduce the core team and have an initial discussion on the project will be held on October 29, 2019 at Douglas MacArthur Elementary School. |

Background:
Following a decision by the School Board on April 4, 2019, to use the old Patrick Henry building as swing space to advance the Douglas MacArthur Elementary School modernization, ACPS has begun pursuing the Douglas MacArthur project and is kicking off this process with the community. |
