An update will be provided to the School Board on Thursday, January 6, 2022 regarding the status of the new Douglas MacArthur. A presentation will be posted on Thursday, January 6, 2022 prior to the Board Meeting pending the final signature of the contract amendment. |

Background:
|
|
Following a decision by the School Board on April 4, 2019 to use the old Patrick Henry building as swing space to advance the Douglas MacArthur Elementary School modernization, ACPS began pursuing renovation of the swing space, Douglas MacArthur at Taney Avenue and the design of the new Douglas MacArthur. After significant consideration and discussion with the community, the School Board selected the “Forest” concept for the new design. Demolition of the old Douglas MacArthur building began in March of 2021, and construction of the new Douglas MacArthur building is now underway. |
