Agenda Item Summary:
The Department of Teaching, Learning, and Leadership has implemented the vision of the 2018 Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) School Board’s approved concept of the Connected High School Network with the expansion of the Minnie Howard Campus to a full 9–12 educational program that is part of the Academies of Alexandria City. The Academies at Alexandria City is a learner-centered instructional program that allows students from diverse populations to explore and develop the skills that are needed for students to be prepared for college, career, and life beyond the classroom and high school.
Background:
The High School Project (THSP) team continues to plan for the educational experience of students at Alexandria City High School (ACHS) with core values and drivers of instructional excellence, equity, student achievement and growth, and multiple pathways that prepare students for college, career, and civic life.
